Student Leadership
At St. Joseph the Worker School, we recognize that student engagement, ownership, and accountability are enhanced by providing leadership and mentoring opportunities for students. From playing on the playground, or buddy reading periods; to Kindergarten Helpers during the winter months, or celebrating special occasions, students in grades 5 and 6 are role models to students in the early years classes.

Student Patrols
This position consists of patrolling area crosswalks to help our students get to school safely. Patrols may also be asked to walk the hallways ro ensure students are safe a secure during indoor recess.
Student Leadership
An opportunity for leadership at St. Joseph the Worker School is the Student Council. There are five elected positions- Prime Minister, Deputy Minister, Minister of Culture, Minister of Finance, Minister of Communication which run for the duration of the school year. Students in grades 5, and 6 can participate in student leadership.
Faith Formation
At its inception, St. Joseph the Worker School, under the direction of the Oblate Sisters, was committed to providing students with a quality Catholic education. Fifty eight years later, we continue to uphold this tradition and our mission; to promote Catholic education so that our students can become life-long learners, community builders, and lead a life rooted in Christian values and faith.
Religious Education
St. Joseph the Worker School employs the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops' full catechetical program as a daily component of the school's academic life. Additionally, our educators employ the Growing in Faith Religion program.
Prayer
Prayers are said daily, at the start and end of each school day, as well as before the lunch meal.
Participating in Sacramental and Liturgical Celebrations
Students plan and participate in monthly school mass/liturgical celebrations. All are welcome to attend, including parents and parishioners. There are also opportunities throughout the school year for students to participate in the sacrament of reconciliation.
Social Justice Initiatives
We believe in putting faith in action through community service experiences and social justice initiatives. Collaborating with the church our students participate in food, clothing, and toy drives for organizations such as Winnipeg Harvest and the Christmas Cheer Board. We teach our students to research, discuss, and respond to needs within our community and city.
